TOUR OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY
On the West Side of the City is the famous Ford Motor Company's Rouge Complex. One can take a tour of this sprawling motor and steel factory. Zug Island is also not far away, where one can witness open flames and coal slags, where the screeching of machinery create a whole different world waiting to be witnessed. There is also a tour at Zug Island if one is brave enough.
To take a good look at the Motor City is to drive up Woodward Avenue towards Pontiac. The first mile is the oldest paved highway in America. Every August the Woodward Strip that stretches from Ferndale to Pontiac will host the Dream Cruise, which is the worlds largest rolling participatory auto show and will have some fine vintage cars.
Good stops along the way are Ferndales trendy downtown, the Detroit Zoo, the Downtown Royal Oak, Birmingham and the Cranbrook Institute of Arts.
