Dearborn is on the West Side and is becoming very popular for tourists to stay in this side of town. It is only 15 to 20 minutes from the airport, as well as from Downtown, and there is a great range of accommodation in the area. The big attraction to Dearborn is the famous Henry Ford Museum, as well as the Greenfield Village. For convenience, most business travellers like staying near the airport, and Romulus is a good location with lots of hotels. The main hotel chains can be found here in Romulus. There is easy access to the airport and also the freeway, which make this area highly attractive. The University of Michigan is located at Ann Arbor, which is about a half hour drive from the airport. Also at Livonia, one can find the Laurel Park Place, which lies only 20 minutes from the airport, and some great hotels based here. Oakland County is attractive to most business travellers, because it is located at the hub of a number of freeways, and provides great access to all routes in and out of the city. Novi has now become the main place in Oakland County for accommodation and has some great hotels in its vicinity. There are some fantastic hotels located near Troy, and most of the wealthy citizens of Detroit reside out here. Also near Downtown Birmingham, one can find some fine swanky hotels. Out in the Auburn Hills, one will find some great hotels, which are not far from the Chrysler Technology Centre. For a real different view of Detroit, book your hotel at Windsor, which can be found across the river in Canada. Although you will sacrifice a lot of the convenience, one can enjoy the benefits of the exchange rate and take advantage of the great restaurants and clubs. There is also a great range of bed and breakfasts in this area. |
